Basic Requirements:
- AGSVA Security clearance.
- Defence experience.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Machine learning, Operational Analysis, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, or another relevant STEM discipline, or equivalent demonstrated professional experience.
- Minimum five years' experience developing, implementing, managing, assuring, testing, evaluating, or governing AI, machine learning, data-driven, or other advanced technology solutions.
- Demonstrated experience applying engineering, systems engineering, risk, assurance, operational analysis, experimentation, test and evaluation, or similar methodologies to complex real-world problems.
- Demonstrated ability to review technical information, assess evidence, and provide recommendations to support informed decision-making.
- Experience preparing reports, briefs, submissions, or advice for senior stakeholders and decision-makers.
- Demonstrated ability to translate business, operational, and capability requirements into practical technology-enabled outcomes.
- Experience engaging and collaborating with diverse stakeholder groups across technical, operational, and governance functions.
- Demonstrated experience applying AI governance, assurance, risk management, ethics, privacy, security or related frameworks to support technology-enabled capabilities.
- Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain an appropriate Defence security clearance.
- Demonstrated understanding of AI and machine learning systems, including an ability to assess technical documentation, performance claims, evidence and risks.
- Demonstrated experience developing, reviewing or applying governance frameworks, policies, assurance frameworks, standards or risk-management approaches in a technology, engineering, capability, regulatory or operational context.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret policy, governance and regulatory requirements and translate them into practical implementation approaches and decision-support advice.
- Demonstrated experience planning, conducting, supporting, assessing or overseeing assurance, verification, validation, test and evaluation, systems engineering, experimentation or operational analysis activities.
- Demonstrated ability to critically assess technical evidence, assumptions, claims and recommendations, and provide balanced, risk-informed advice to senior decision-makers.
- Demonstrated experience working at the intersection of technical, governance, operational or policy functions.

Coalition Services Engineer- Battle Lab

Basic Requirements:

- Demonstrated experience engineering and integrating complex ICT systems, applying systems and software engineering practices across requirements analysis, interface management, configuration control, integration testing, verification, validation, and resolution of integration issues.
- Experience engineering, integrating, and sustaining complex enterprise applications and information system environments, including the integration of applications, data services, user environments, and supporting infrastructure.
- Demonstrated ability to implement, assess, and maintain security controls aligned with the Information Security Manual (ISM) and the Essential Eight mitigation strategies as part of broader system security and assurance activities.
- Strong understanding of LAN and WAN engineering principles, including IP addressing, routing, DNS, DHCP, and network segmentation, and how these elements interact to affect system interoperability, performance, and security.
- Proven ability to operate as a senior technical practitioner, providing authoritative engineering advice and engaging effectively with stakeholders including ICT teams, project staff, security authorities, and capability representatives to resolve complex system integration issues without oversight

Systems Engineer – Voice and Data Comms Systems
Start: ASAP
Duration: 6 months - with extension options
Location: Melbourne, Victoria
Basic Requirements:
- AGSVA Security clearance.
- Defence experience.
- Good knowledge of network/communication engineering architecture.
- Experience in Defence Safety Engineering practices, including LMSM compliance, Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Safety Case development.
- Experience in supporting electronic systems and OEM software solutions. Knowledge of electronics, networking technologies, and vendor-specific software platforms to be able to understand issues, system performance, and ensure reliable operation of critical systems. Works closely with cross-functional teams, end users, and OEM partners to implement system and software upgrades, understand faults, and provide technical advice ensuring compliance with operational and security requirements
- An understanding and experience of the Capability Life Cycle (CLC).
- A clear understanding of Configuration Management.
- Experience with developing and managing Hazard logs and Safety Case Reports.
- Experience preparing, reviewing, and presenting engineering documentation for governance and approval
- Experience with ASDEFCON deliverables.
- Experience managing multiple stakeholders across Defence, Industry, and Capability Management organisations.
- Experience reporting to senior stakeholders (Director Level and above).
Highly Desired Experience:
- At least 3 years' experience delivering engineering outcomes in a defence environment.
- Previous ADF tactical communications and/or COMSEC experience
- Experience with developing and managing Engineering Changes
- Experience interpreting wiring diagrams, technical drawings and communications system interfaces.
- Experience or familiarity with Defence cyber accreditation frameworks and ATO requirements.
- Experience using ERP system
- Chartered Professional Engineer (Engineers Australia) who is on the National Engineering Register

- Demonstrated ability to lead security cyber audits, documenting outcomes and delivering reports of outcomes.

- Comprehensive understanding of Defence systems including C4 capabilities.
- Experience in assessing and evaluation risk; and
- Demonstrates creativity and innovation in applying solutions for the benefit of the stakeholder
